Highlights
- Peaceful and unique island location.
- Flexible staff accommodation facilities to adapt to potential future pandemic events.
- The latest thinking in memory care facilities.
Project objective
The site’s location on Manukau Harbour offered an unparalleled opportunity to develop New Zealand’s premier later living and care development facility. The objective was to implement a range of communal and wellbeing facilities to provide adaptable amenities for residents’ future needs, while also providing a conduit to the wider community as an island destination.
Client challenge
The client wanted integration of on-site staff accommodation to ensure adequate staff are available to continue to provide care for residents, including as a response strategy in the event of future pandemics.
Life3A solution
Life3A’s solution included a provision for on-site staff accommodation above the memory care facility for easy access and to satisfy physical distancing requirements. To justify the upfront additional capital cost, the spaces are designed to double as education training facilities when not used for their primary purpose of staff accommodation.
Exceptional outcome
Lifestyle living embodying the atmospheric island setting surrounding the site, that provides all the necessary care while connecting into the wider island community.
