Providing design and later living consultancy services, Life3A was engaged from the outset to assist in the development of this forward funded project, with Riverstone Living purchasing the development post-planning approval. During the early stages on the project Life3A consulted on the design of the Amenity accommodation and apartment layouts to ensure a consistent approach was delivered in terms of Later Living design, and that the Riverstone brand was reflected throughout.

  • Working within an existing approved residential design and creating the Riverstone product within the constraints of the approval.

Project objective 

To deliver the Riverstone brief, within the boundaries of the existing consent, whilst providing a design that catered for the residents changing health requirements and aspirational amenity offering. Located in the heart of Kensington, the site sits within a unique blend of urban living, boutiques, antique shops, exclusive bars and restaurants, cinemas, theatres and museums.

Client challenge 

To create beautifully designed high-end apartments and amenity spaces that appeal to the demographic and embed life 3A’s ageing better design principles. Creating a synergy between the inside and out, working with the internal amenity spaces and the landscaping whilst allowing for connectivity and legibility with the design. 

Life3A solution 

Our solution was to ensure that the project responded to the residents’ needs at a macro and micro level allowing them to feel safe, secure and part of both the Riverstone Living community, and wider community in and around Kensington. The apartments have been designed to allow for ageing in place to an exceptionally high standard. The seamless connectivity of the apartments with the amenity areas provides a social and wellness hub that responds directly to  the residents’ needs. The creation of the breath-taking lower ground floor amenity spaces, Designed by BJB with the clever use of lightwells and voids, adds to the level of sophistication and quality of the building.

Exceptional outcome 

Creating an exceptional later living offering in the heart of London, whilst continuing to reinforce the Riverstone brand, quality of design and resident aspiration.
