Why later living and care?
Ageing is a complex issue, and we can no longer look to solve the problems in isolation. To improve the current later living, lifestyle, and care offerings, we need a holistic approach that looks at all factors contributing to the environment as a whole. With in-depth research and understanding of the specific requirements of older people, we are in a better position to create solutions that respond to the needs of an ageing population and the impacts of ageing.
To have three of our dementia-friendly housing projects acknowledged by leading international experts and included in the World Alzheimer Report 2020 and also in a new book published by the University of Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre (Architecture for Dementia – Stirling Gold 2008 – 2020) is humbling because it is evidence that we can and are making a difference in people’s lives.
The challenges in ageing are significant, however, the opportunities to make a difference are endless. I am dedicated and passionate about leaving a lasting and positive impact through holistic design and advocacy. Life3A understands that Later Living isn’t just about design. We are the first practice dedicated to the sector globally that brings together multiple disciplines to provide holistic solutions to the complexities of designing for ageing.
